The
Samoan Island's, a world of islands in the heart of ancient
Polynesia, rarely touched by human hands, where often the only signs of life
are footprints of birds and shy little crabs. It is here that the music is
created by the blue turquoise ocean, the whistle of palm trees and the
occasional call of sea birds.
In this realm of dreams, we have selected
one piece of paradise as your holiday retreat. Here in this desirable location,
where Solent Flying boats anchored during their Romantic Coral Route days in
the 1950's, and where James Michener began writing "Tales of the South Pacific"
you will find the all new stylish Aggie Grey's Lagoon, Beach Resort
& Spa.
Our stylish Resort is nestled amongst 50 acres of tropical gardens, amidst tall swaying palm trees and is bordered by a professionally designed 18 Hole Championship Golf course, which opened in mid 2007. The Resort is
stunningly located on a stretch of white sand beach with its own blue turquoise
lagoon and was one of the first sites where the Polynesian migrants landed when
they set foot on the Samoa Islands some 3000 years ago.
Theme designed with James Michener's Bloody Mary very much in mind, it
celebrates Aggie Grey's close relationship with the playwright. Here guests
will find the same warm smiling welcome, hospitality and service for which
Aggie Grey's is renowned.
The Resort offers the very best in service
and comfort. Aggie Grey's Lagoon, Beach Resort & Spa has a unique
design which represents the authentic ancient Samoan culture, high beams grace
you in the open aired lobby foyers to the spacious comforts of our Restaurants
and Bar areas. Local senet is used as much as possible on our wood carved
beams. The architecture of the sprawling Resort blends in with the magnificent
views of the blue and green azure lagoons and the Big Island's of Savaii,
Apolima and Manono which sit on the near by horizon.
Every angle at
the Resort allows you maximum advantage of the turquoise lagoon that graces the
Resort
in fact everything at this Resort has a view of the ocean or the
Championship Golf Course which surrounds it,
which is due for completion mid 2007
turquoise blue or
natural green!
One
of the most exciting revelations during the construction of the
Resort was the discovery of a 100 year old church tucked amongst the trees.
Built out of burnt coral, the 100 year old Church has been
reconstructed to its
original stature and will be an important venue for weddings and other
receptions. The Church stands next to the Lobby and Foyer areas of the
Resort. So if you're looking for a romantic wedding, it would be difficult to
imagine anything better for a private Sunset Wedding Ceremony. .
.
During World
War two the US Marines established their Samoan base here. Old
gun mounds and bunkers are still visible in the sprawling grounds of the Resort
and Golf Course and these are being restored to their original stature. For
those looking for a bit of history, then the 224 acres of sprawling Resort and
Golf course is an ideal venue to go exploring
you never know what you will
discover!
Shortly after the war, Solent Flying boats used the lagoon
of the Resort as the site of their romantic Teal Coral Route flying boats which
stopped off from Fiji on route to Aitutaki and Tahiti.
A breeding sanctuary
for the native Samoan bird the "Toloa" can be visited on site, providing an
interesting alternative tour for bird and nature lovers. The Resort ensures the
preservation of the sanctuary and the historical sites within its extensive 224
acres of grounds.
